Driver Diagram Resources  So you want to know what Driver Diagrams are, what they are for and when to use them as part of your quality improvement journey.  Effectively driver diagrams are a way of expressing your 'Theory of Change', more specifically the things that you are going to do to achieve the aim of your improvement work and how these fit together.  Driver diagrams always start with an aim, linked to primary drivers and then secondary drivers that you think will get you where you want to be.  Your theory of change, visualised through your driver diagram, will be based on a thorough  understanding of the problem you are trying to address and may include interventions that are  evidence based, learning from PDSA cycles or new innovative ways to deliver your service.  The  driver diagram should be agreed by those involved in improving the service.  Check out some  methods that may be used to work with others t...

Scatter Plot Resources - A Scatter Plot is a really useful tool to enable you to check out a hunch, whether two variables are  connected in some way.  For instance, you have a hunch that patient satisfaction rates are linked to  the  time  patients have to wait in an outpatient clinic.  A Scatter graph enables you to plot  the satisfaction  rates  against the waiting times to see if this is true!   Check out the ABCi Skills for Improvement  - Scatter Plots guide below.  See also how scatter plots  fit within the context of measurement  for Improvement.   See ABCi Skills for Improvement - Measurement for Improvement page.
