Driver Diagram Resources So you want to know what Driver Diagrams are, what they are for and when to use them as part of your quality improvement journey. Effectively driver diagrams are a way of expressing your 'Theory of Change', more specifically the things that you are going to do to achieve the aim of your improvement work and how these fit together. Driver diagrams always start with an aim, linked to primary drivers and then secondary drivers that you think will get you where you want to be. Your theory of change, visualised through your driver diagram, will be based on a thorough understanding of the problem you are trying to address and may include interventions that are evidence based, learning from PDSA cycles or new innovative ways to deliver your service.
